I say we give Scott a chance, Danville's history dictates that we give our Mayors 20 years before we judge them and then name a civic center after them. I personally think that Scott is actually trying, I doubt that he succeeds but, the point is he tried.

Where else in society is that kind of mentality acceptable?
"Who cares how much our civic leaders mess up. At least they're trying."
Come on now! Does my boss have that kind of an attitude with me? Do you think he'll keep me on at my current salary and benefits as long as I show a concerted effort? Of course not! He hired me because he wants results! I'm still employed because I deliver.

Tuck, what you essential said in your last message was that the mayor considers this forum to be less important than "meeting his constituents." If he truly does not feel that this forum is important, he should eliminate the thread titled "Mayor's Desk." I don't understand why he feels that way, since this seems a great opportunity to converse with lots of people at the same time and hear their opinions expressed.
Initially I said I understood if he gets tired of answering the same old rumors again and again, but his notable silence from answering posts on here makes me wonder a little. It's a [virtual] slap in the face to all of us who take the time to post our opinions on here. We're on here not because we get paid to do so but because we care about our community. That should make us no less important than anyone else.

I imagine that the mayor holds a bigger commitment to 'meeting his constituents.' The man could probably spend all of his waking hours after city hall closes attending all of the various city organizations' meetings, school events, etc., besides attending to the needs of his new family and parents, etc. I know how 'active' Scott is, and I often wonder how he finds time to 'wind down.'
So I can excuse him if 'monitoring' our forum isn't his #1 priority, or even #2 or #3. That's just my opinion...

I am sorry you took it that way...........Scott as many of you know is a very busy person. While at work, he has many issues he must attend to. I am sure his work computer is working well, but probably does not have the time that he would like to get on it. The computer that is not working is his home computer. We can not expect him to be on at all hours..........the man needs trest, just like the rest of us.

ok, the city has ~32,000 population and lets say 10,000 voters then the total membership on this board equates to 5.11% of the voters in Danville (511/10,000*100) so why would any politician waste their time on 5% of the voters but, that is what Scott has done, he should have never registered here in the first place because, we obviously do not have the common sense to understand the world does not revolve around this board and, just because we have time to post to this board daily doesn't mean others do.

Your figure would be correct IF all forum members were Danville voters. Of course, that is not true. It would be interesting to know how many members are actually Danville voters, but I don't see how that would be possible. 'What if'...there were only ten currently active members who are Danville voters?

As vr man said before. . . "It amazes me how the mayor was not posting that much prior to 6 months before the election....Then all of a sudden he was....chit chatting away up to election time........Now he's got elected...and he's gone! Guess I'll have to wait another 3 1/2 yrs till he returns."
It sure seems strange.

I previously posted that Scott was going to speak at the Northeast Neighborhood Assoc. today (Thursday, May 24). I just got a reminder of the meeting with no mention of Scott, so I guess he changed his mind. But that is fine because Jeff Romig from Community Danville and Nick Moody who works with gangs will both be there so it should be a very informative meeting. It meets at 6:00 p.m. at the Griffin St. fire station.
