City of Danville STOLE My Signs!!!

THIEFS THIEFS THIEFS!  Tuesday night Frank Hoskins stopped by my house and placed one of his election signs in my yard, and my rental next door....Thank you Frank! Wednesday- My neighbor alerted me that  a city car had stopped by and STOLE them...The  City Thief was placing them in the Trunk of the city get away car when my neighbor stopped him from taking the sign in his yard and asked the CITY THIEF what he thought he was doing. The thief told him that the  area between the sidewalk and the street is city property and that they can not be placed there....Which IMHO is totally horsecrap...You know you would of thought that the signs could of been removed and placed up by my house...but no...he had to have them...which i would like to know where they are because i want them back! Anyhow...the CITY THIEF got into the get away car and proceeded down the road stopping at the ward 2 incumbents house....Rick Strebing...he had his sign in the same area I did....The CITY THIEF gets out and pulls the sign...but guess what....he put it in the trunk?....noooooooo. he walks over and places mr strebings sign in the ground on the other side of the sidewalk....anyone see anything wrong here? Scott, I want to know what kind of dirty politics is going on here?....this is so petty of the city it makes me wanna hurl! And furthermore...since the city owns this property, please make sure it gets mowed this summer! I'm tired of mowing your side of the sidewalk! And again I want my signs back ASAP!  where are they?

I should say so VRM Where,Why Maybe it was McKissack's man...ha ha ha...me and him would have had a problem right there in the street if I saw him doing that...and I'm sure you and him would have had a problem had you saw him too....Well for sure that is dirty pool....We might have a problem now if I saw the car again....Might go to City Hall and raise a ruckus and see who comes to your aid...second floor....That makes me upset and I don't have my sign yet...I dare them to come and get mine.....double dare...because i'll put it out and watch it.....and take it in when I'm not............

I'm not sure which city Inspector is responsible but it really doesn't matter. I think everybody knows what he SHOULD have done. It would have only taken him a couple minutes of his time to come to the door to point out the violation and then everybody would be on the same page. What he did was WRONG and I am sure things will be corrected. It's rather smelly when they go to the incumbents house and does differently. How wrong can that be? I'm almost certain the signs will make their way back to your house. I hope it comes with an apology as well.

Didn't we just hire another city inspector because the 2 we have are too busy?     If the inspector has time to drive around Danville and move election signs it makes me wonder if we really needed another inspector.

Obviously, these inspectors have spare time on their hands.  I suggest if they have all that time to drive around spending taxpayers dollars on gas to spend it on something useful.....possibly picking up trash???

Probably what he should have done Mac is leave it alone what is it going to hurt...do they expect to mow this summer at some point where the sign was...I think not...you can't hardly get them to do the mowing they have to do.....I agree he'll probably get his sign back but if it was me like I said I'd be in City Hall raising cane and putting a chunk under it.....they've never did that before that I know of.......surely he didn't look around to see who was watching or maybe he should have came back at midnight and did it.........and the City hired this idiot.........seems to run rampant around here the mentality of some behooves me..............and I don't know which idiot it was but doesn't make any difference really I know what he wasn't.......without any trouble...........

after frank said that he had called the mayors office to complain about the person who stole his signs you said that you had just called also. I asked if someone from Danville stole your sign also. Meaning that someone from the city of Danville was in San Diego and took your sign out of your yard?! I thought it was, but Bill, you know yourself, you can be very sarcastic at times, so thought it would be best to clarify, before I went the wrong direction.

i was informed about this and i went and checked a few of my signs and if any of my signs come up missing i now know who probably took them.  in my opinion the city employee ought to be charged with theft since i know the signs arent cheap and also employee should have to explain his actions to frank and i also wonder about suspending the employee.

Well I'm sure you know that won't happen. Whoever it was who removed the signs were in the position of authority to do so. How he done it was wrong and I am quite certain he will return the signs once the Mayor knows what took place. A violation was committed but how it was handled was totally wrong.

In my state (not sure about IL.) it is illegal to post campaign signs on city owned property.  During election season our public works dept has to go around town and collect all the ones that have been placed illegally. It is not their job to decide if or where to move them.  Just imagine what would happen if they relocated signs and gave one candidate's signs better positions than another's!  Our crews take them to the city shop and keep them so that those campaigning can retrieve them.  It is also against the law to post them on private property without the owners permission.  It is up to the candidates to learn and comply with state and city laws!
